scripture

Genesis 3:1

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

En Espanol, Genesis 3:1

thought

“Did God really say _________?”  Oh, what careless folly and outright disobedience humans exhibit when the will of God is in question.  How shall we know what is good and right and in line with the will of God?  We must continually become more and more familiar with the unadulterated Word of God.

scripture

Isaiah 12

In that day you will say:  "I will praise you, O LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you."

En Espanol, Isaias 12

thought

Happiness is based on circumstance.  Joy is much deeper than happiness, because it exists through dependence on God.  What specifically brings us joy?  1) Our union and communion with Jesus brings us joy, 2) our complete dependence upon Jesus brings us joy, 3) feeding on God's Word brings us joy, and 4) obedience to Christ brings us joy.

scripture

John 2:13-17

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!" His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me."

En Espanol, Juan  2:13-17

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.

scripture

Psalm 37:5-8

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.

En Espanol, Salmos 37:5-8

Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.
