scripture

Psalm 51:10-12

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

En Espanol, Salmos 51:10-12

quote

The Spirit is Love expressed towards man as redeeming love, and the Spirit is truth, and the Spirit is the Holy Spirit. Redemption is inconceivable without truth and holiness.
Roland Allen

thought

No single book within the Bible can be held apart from the rest of its books.  The Bible is what is called a grandnarrative, which cannot be properly understood when divided.  Neither can the Old Testament be separated from the New, for the Old proclaims the New and the New confirms the Old.  It is within the coherent whole of Scripture that we are able to find, discern, and live out truth.

scripture

Matthew 6:34

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

quote

Real goodness is always simple.  Simplicity is so attractive and so profitable that it is strange that so few people lead truly simple lives.

scripture

Luke 18:9-14

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

En Espanol, Lucas 18:9-14

quote

Sometimes a sinner parlays with his Savior, wishing he could have a little of the honor of his salvation, wanting to keep some favorite sin and amend the humbling terms of grace. But Jesus will be all in all, and the sinner must be nothing at all.
Charles Spurgeon

note

Sorry for the absence of the-daily-Word.  Our daughter decided to come earlier than her due date.

I am back from two weeks of PTO that was spent with my wife, daughter, and lots of family.

scripture

Ephesians 6:1-4

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

quote

Your children will see what you're all about by what you live rather than what you say.
