scripture
Matthew 9:9
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

The majority of missionaries overseas have not received an official call from God. They simply read the Bible and said, “Okay Lord. I’ll go.”

scripture
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Kierkegaard said that most of us read the Bible the way a mouse tries to remove the cheese from the trap without getting caught. Some of us have mastered that. We read the story as though it were about someone else a long time ago; that way we don't get caught. -Maxie Dunnam

What's your fave Bible verse? And why?

I thought it would be fun, and insightful for us all to share with each other what our favorite Bible verse(s) were and why? Use the comment link below to post your response. I'd love to see some dialogue in the posts also.

scripture
John 12:44-46
Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me (God the Father). When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness"

scripture

1 Peter 1:18-19

“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

quote

Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them - every day begin the task anew.

Hollar Twins Update

April 30, 2007

Baby steps! Tyler is now up to 2lbs 8oz, and Jack is just shy of 2lbs 11oz! Every day is closer and closer to 3lbs. They are still at the same feedings and nothing else has changed yet; which is better than going backwards. They both got a bath the other night and they look so much better! Tyler was very awake this morning when we went to visit, and Jack was completely asleep. They’re so adorable, with their little fingers and toes. And how their little tongues stick out when they’re sleeping. I can’t wait until they are out of the incubators, so we can hold them any time we go in there. Soon!

scripture

1 Corinthians 1:1-3

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing… (read more)

quote

If the first mark of a true and living church is love, the second is suffering. The one is naturally consequent on the other. A willingness to suffer proves the genuineness of love.

information

Each week without fail I meet many people of many different religions. This can cause much confusion if you aren’t well informed. CARM is a great resource for us as Christians to find out what other religions believe and why we believe differently. When we know what they believe and what the Bible says about it, then we will know how we can converse with them about spiritual matters. Our conversations should be meaningful and by all means lead others to Jesus Christ.
