Scripture

Proverbs 18:2
A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

En Espanol, Proverbios 18:2

Thought

I am currently spending a lot of time in my personal study in Proverbs.  If you spend any time at all in Proverbs, you soon realize one theme that keeps coming up is control of one’s tongue and the idea that one who is seeking wisdom should be slow to speak.  This idea is reinforced by James in the New Testament.  It is truly an extremely hard thing to control.  So much damage can be done in so little time that may never be undone.  I know I am challenged daily to be “quick to listen and slow to speak” and to not “delight in airing my own opinion”.

It is the province of knowledge to speak and it is the privilege of wisdom to listen.

scripture

John 21:25

Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

En Espanol, Juan 21:25

thought

I love this last verse in the book of John.  John thinks back on all that he has written about Jesus and says, There was also so much more that Jesus did but there’s no way I could record them all!  There is not enough room on this earth to contain all the books that would be filled.  There is not enough parchment, ink, or time to do so.

scripture

Proverbs 22:17-19

Pay attention and listen to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you.

En Espanol, Proverbios 22:17-19

scripture

Hebrews 10:35-38

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. “For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.” (Habakkuk 2:3-4; En Espanol)

scripture

Colossians 1:15-17

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

En Espanol, Colosenses 1:15-17

When Christ is not central and supreme in our lives, everything about life shifts out of orbit and moves out of kilter. So for Christians, our first task is to know Jesus. And out of that knowing, we will come to love Him, adore Him, proclaim Him, and manifest Him.

scripture

Luke 6:43-45

Jesus said, "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.”

Hebrews 13:5-6

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
