scripture
2 Cor. 4:16-18 NIV
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

verse from an old song
This world is not my home; I'm just a-passing through.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door and I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

thought
This song appeared in my mind out of nowhere yesterday. It's easy to get swallowed up and weighed down by the world and by the cares of each day. Each day is filled with problems, some small, others that seem insurmountable. It helps to remember as Paul said that we are in an earthly tent and we're just passing through, on to our building made by God. How precious is the hope that we hold for something better than this broken world!
