scripture

Psalm 148:1-5

Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD from the heavens, praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for he commanded and they were created.

thoughts

My buddy Mark Rogers told us this story about a time in college where he was really down and out. He called his dad to talk and after explaining how he felt his dad asked him a single question. “Mark, when was the last time you served someone else?” Mark told us that soon after he ended that phone call he found someone to serve. When he went and did a selfless act of service for someone else his spirit was lifted and happiness replaced his gloominess.

I’d really love to see a better spirit this Christmas. I want to see the spirit of joy, happiness, kindness, gratitude, and contentment. I want to use this spirit to overpower the spirit of materialism, bitterness, loneliness, and frustration which often comes during December. Please join me in accepting a simple challenge. Find something to do for someone else to bless them. Be creative. See if you can do something for someone and leave an anonymous note for them to enjoy the rest of their day.
