Afghanistan

Here is what my parents get to be a part of while they are in Afghanistan.

We did a medivac today for Medair from Kwakhan to Faizabad. We were contacted yesterday middle of the afternoon for this urgent medical flight, so that that lady whose baby had supposedly died in her womb would not also die. When they brought her to the aircraft today, she was not doing well at all. From what I could understand from the conversation, she had been transported across the river days earlier to Tajikistan, where they could not help her. She was then brought back to her village and home to basically die. However, she was then brought into the Medair clinic there, from where they asked us to do this flight.

If you look at the email below, you can see, that the baby is not dead after all. The medical staff told us numerous times, that if we did not help with this flight, the lady would not have made it. However, now I am not so sure what the problem was... at least she is doing better and now she has a son who is still alive, and THAT is the important thing!
