scripture

Mark 10:13-16

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

En Espanol, Marcos 10:13-16

quote

Children are not casual guests in our home. They have been loaned to us temporarily for the purpose of loving them and instilling a foundation of values on which their future lives will be built.

scripture

Psalm 103:19-22

The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

En Espanol, Salmos 103:19-22

scripture

Colossians 1:19-23

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

En Espanol, Colosenses 1:19-23

quote

I charge you never to give up the old doctrine of the blood of Christ, the complete satisfaction which that atoning blood made for sin, and the impossibility of being saved except by that blood.

lyrics

VERSE 1

At the foot of the cross

Where grace and suffering meet

You have shown me Your love

Through the judgment You received

And You've won my  heart

Yes You've won my  heart

Now I can…

CHOURUS

Trade these ashes in for beauty

And wear forgiveness like a crown

Coming to kiss the feet of mercy

I lay every burden down

At the foot of the cross

VERSE 2

At the foot of the cross

Where I am made complete

You have given me life

Through the death You bore for me

And You've won my  heart

Yes You've won my  heart

Now I can…

scripture

Joshua 24:14-15

Joshua spoke to the people saying, "Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

scripture

Deuteronomy 32:1-4

Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

scripture

1 Kings 19:11-13

The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

En Espanol, 1 Reyes 19:11-13

thought

A great and powerful wind tore through the mountain, but the Lord was not in the wind.  There was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.  There was fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.  Then there came a gentle whisper, which was the Lord.

Have you ever wondered if perhaps you cannot hear God because you aren’t listening?  Or perhaps you are waiting for a booming voice from heaven and in so doing dismiss the gentle whisper of God?  Oh, how we need to learn to be still and listen.

scripture

Jonah 1:1-3

Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

En Espanol, Jonás 1:1-3

thought

We are told that Jonah fled “from the presence of the LORD”.  The Hebrew word used is millifne, which is composed of two words.  Mi: “away from” and lyfanay: “in front of, before the presence of”.  Millifne is understood by some to literally mean “from the face of”.

Jonah went down to Joppa, then down into the boat, and once swallowed by the fish Jonah refers to the depth, the deep, the pit, and even says that he was in the belly of Sheol.  (see chapter 2)

Psalm 133:1

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!

En Espanol, Salmos 133:1

quote

The reason why the world lacks unity, and lies broken and in heaps, is, because man is disunited with himself.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

thought

I suggest that the disunity within the individual is due to an individual’s disunity with God.  It is in God that we find our being.  It is through knowing God that we find wholeness and are better able to understand what it rightly means to be human.  Knowing God helps me to know myself and knowing myself helps me to love others because of how God loves me.

Scripture

Philippians 2:14-15 (New International Version)

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe

Thought

I caught myself grumbling the other day about something I was asked to do, and this afternoon I had prayed specifically for opportunities to serve.  So I was listening to the radio the other morning and they were talking about the ’30-Day No Grumble No Mumble No Whining Challenge’.  I dare you to take it.  Think you are up for it?  http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/kloveradio?ref=ts
