scripture

Romans 6:11-14

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

thought

Have you ever heard someone say about their sin, “it is okay because God forgives me”? That statement is only half true and must be sickening to God. Yes, God does forgive you but it is not just okay to continue sinning. When we sin and do it without regard to the blood Jesus poured out on the cross we are saying that His blood is nothing more than dirty dish water.

The thought also goes along with the expressionist intent behind the Piss Christ. Visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piss_Christ for more about this. Excerpt from article: "Sister Wendy Beckett, an art critic, consecrated virgin and Catholic nun, voiced her approval of Piss Christ. She explained in a television interview with Bill Moyers that she regarded the work as a statement on 'what we have done to Christ' - that is, the way contemporary society has come to regard Christ and the values he represents." Do you think Piss Christ is an accurate depiction of our society today?
