Okay, it took me a little bit to think of examples. I hope this does it.

"A friend that causes you a wound can be trusted…"

No one wants to be told that they are screwing up. It hurts when that happens.

EXAMPLE
Let’s say that “Ryan” is wasting his money on alcohol and is neglecting his family. As a true friend, I am going to step in and bring to his attention that what he is doing is harmful to himself and his family. I am going to suggest that he get some help and reconcile with his family through maybe a family councilor. He explodes and gets angry with me. Confrontation is the wound but if he heeds my instruction then the hurt was worth it.

"An enemy that applies multiple kisses…"

EXAMPLE
“Hey buddy, you are so smart and talented. You are such a great friend. You’ve got a beautiful wife, two cute kids, and a nice house… Could you loan me $2k?”

Basically it is buttering someone up so you can get what you want through deception.

An enemy will apply a kiss because it gets them close to you and a kiss does not cause you any apprehension in them being so close. But then they pull a knife and stab you in the side. That's the image I get when I read this verse.
